I am a Professor of Applied Mathematics at the Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford, and a Tutorial Fellow in Mathematics at St Hugh’s College.
My group is part of the Wolfson Centre for Mathematical Biology, and I am also affiliated with the Institute for Developmental and Regenerative Medicine. Our research focus is on developing and applying novel mathematical and computational methodologies and modelling frameworks for investigating cell and developmental biology phenomena at the cell and tissue level. Our aim in developing new methodologies is to facilitate the development of biologically realistic models that, used in tandem with experiments, can provide fundamental insights into the key biological mechanisms underlying embryo development. In this way, an important part of our work is multidisciplinary collaboration with theoreticians, life scientists and clinicians both within Oxford and further afield.
This site contains a few bits and pieces of information about our research in the field of quantitative cell and developmental biology. Do get in touch if you’re interested in what we do! You can contact me at ruth.baker@maths.ox.ac.uk.
